Facilities

UCSD Medical Center is an urban teaching hospital in San Diego, California. All services are offered in the hospital, including a Level 1 Trauma Center, Burn Center, transplant services, medical/surgical and pediatric specialties. It is located in the area of Hillcrest, close to downtown San Diego. The UCSD Jacobs Medical Center is in La Jolla. It has an actively growing oncologic service through the Moore’s Cancer center as well as cardiac and vascular-related service through the Sculpizio Cardiovascular Center. Expansion of this site is ongoing with the new Jacobs Medical Center currently under construction. Our combined department's bed capacity is 58 with a total of 71K visits a year. Hillcrest has 24 hour emergency resident coverage. Residents work during the day at Jacobs along with two attending physicians. All facilities have at least one newer ultrasound machine (Zonare z.one), while in the Hillcrest Emergency Department there are two.
